The Major Indoor Soccer league opened this past week for its 2011-12 season. Per a press release, nearly 13,000 fans were in attendance across three games from Thursday and Friday nights. MISL Senior Director Chris Economides was very positive on the opening, "We are absolutely thrilled at the response of our fans. The outstanding attendances for the return of the Wichita Wings and the first game for both the Syracuse Silver Knights and Rochester Lancers."
Wichita had the biggest opening of the group with a sold out Hartman Arena on Thursday with a crowd of 4,695 turning out. The Major Indoor Soccer League is off to a fresh start and is doing so with a bang. It's great to see soccer spreading its influence in so many ways, including indoor. There is certainly an audience for it and many players around the country find a special pleasure in the way the indoor game is played. MISL seems to be doing it right and credit to the league for that. Keep an eye on it.
