I essentially lambasted Brad Friedel for his comments regarding Landon Donovan. Along with other journalists, I was under the impression that Brad Friedel was stating that Donovan took the easy road and my quarrel with this was large. Apparently though, he was misquoted and I misunderstood. That's a good thing.
According to MLSSoccer.com, Friedel reached out to them after hearing the way his comments were misinterpreted. Friedel states: "Not even in a million years would I disparage an American player."
"At no time did I want to disparage or demean Landon Donovan in any way, shape or form. And if people read my quotes in a negative manner, I apologize for that."
He goes on to explain himself and rather than quote it all, I'll send you to the source to read his comments. Needless to say, this is a relief and my previous frustrations with him are put to rest. I'm happy to say that my interpretation of the situation was wrong and I'm pleased Friedel spoke out to clarify himself. This shows the class that I perhaps judged him not to have after my initial reaction. Nonetheless, it's all good now.
