Both Bruce Arena and Landon Donovan have decided to part ways with the club. Donovan it seems is headed back to Europe to help Everton while Arena seems destined for parts unknown. The Galaxy will be reeling now and have not yet released a statement on the vacant coaching position, although for now it is expected that Galaxy assistant coach Dave Sarachan will step into the role until a replacement is named.
Said Donovan in a press release, "I think I'm finally ready. This move has been a long time coming. I have the tools and the skills necessary to perform in what I believe is the best league in the world. I'm thankful for all that MLS and the Galaxy have given me, but it's time I stepped up. I believe I am better than this and I want to prove it."
It is speculated that the move also comes as an answer to pressure being applied by US Men's National Team coach Jurgen Klinsmann, who has long believed Donovan should be playing in Europe.
As for Arena, no official words have come from the Galaxy other than to say he will no longer be coaching the team. Unconfirmed reports have come out saying that he stormed out of the Galaxy locker room last night after the Galaxy were handed a humiliating defeat at home by the New England Revolution. The reports say he left with his hands in the air after screaming and tossing chairs. While the report is unconfirmed, it has been reported that parts of the locker room are in need of repair after the tirade.
