US Open Cup Enjoys Great Coverage, Catch It Live

Post by Luke Lohr

The 4th Round of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup is a heated one indeed. Eight Major League Soccer teams have been eliminated to lower tier teams and at least two non MLS teams will make the quarter finals. Perhaps the most intriguing match of the night will see Eric Wynalda's Cal FC, an amateur side, take on the 3 time reigning champions with Seattle Sounders FC. Cal FC has earned it's fair share of attention recently, which you can catch up on here, here and here.

Chivas USA has a unique opportunity in Carolina as they brought their entire first team save for two international call ups. Robin Fraser is on record as saying he's doing everything he can to win the tournament and bring prestige to Chivas. They take on a Carolina side that is struggling in league play but is unbeaten in 4 matches. We spoke to several of the Goats ahead of their match, which you can listen to here.

The Michigan Bucks and Dayton Dutch Lions represent an interesting match up as third and fourth tier teams will fight for a place in the round of eight. The only all MLS matches tonight pit Sporting Kansas City against Colorado and DC United against Philadelphia. If there is one thing we've learned about this US Open Cup, it's to expect the unexpected.
