Major League Soccer has announced the First XI All-Star roster that could wind up taking on Chelsea in this years All-Star match. A star studded group headlines the list, with more selections to be made by coach Ben Olsen and two supplemental picks by MLS Commissioner Don Garber.
Landon Donovan will be making his 12 appearance on the All-Star roster and he's joined by fellow league Designated Players Dwayne De Rosario, David Beckham and Thierry Henry. De Rosario is the reigning league MVP and will be making his seventh appearance in an All-Star uniform while early league leader for the Golden Boot Chris Wondolowski is making his second appearance as an All-Star.
It is Sporting Kansas City who is most heavily represented at the moment with three players. Here is the initial group to be selected and overreactions are to be quelled. Plenty of additions are expected by Olsen and it is likely that many of the early 'snubs' called out by most people will be remedied.
Voting was submitted in three ways: online at MLSSoccer.com, by text message and via Twitter. Media, fans and players were given their own voting rights.
